Rachel Proudley takes top spot in the British Horse Feeds Speedi-Beet Grade C HOYS Qualifier at The Royal Highland Show

The British Horse Feeds Speedi-Beet HOYS Grade C Championship qualifiers continued this week on the opening day of The Royal Highland Show.

Sixty combinations stepped up to take on the challenge of Mark McGowan’s 1.35m track and, with faults scattered across the course, 13 advanced to the jump-off, Rachel Proudley claiming two of the rides.

Going early in the jump-off, Rachel knew she would have to set the bar high to claim her ticket to the Horse of the Year show, and that is exactly what she did. Galloping around the shortened course, Rachel piloted Alan Marnie’s nine-year-old gelding, Millfield Chrisis, around in a time of 40.95 seconds that could not be caught by those who followed, taking top spot.

Rachel has only recently taken on the ride of Millfield Chrisis from Ireland’s Richard Howley as she now works for HK Horses but is fast building a bond with the young gelding: “I have only been riding him for a few months but he’s a lovely horse. He’s got loads of jump, he’s a real gentle giant, and is a pleasure to ride.

“We won the Grand Prix at Bramham International Horse Trials earlier this month and he was clear in the World Ranking class at Bolesworth International, so he has had a good run.”

“There were quite a few entries, and it was a very competitive and very quick class. It was a nice course that rode well, and it was great to get the win,” added Rachel.
