Jodie Hall-McAteer secures a three-star Grand Prix victory with Kimosa Van Het Kritrahof

Jodie Hall-McAteer claimed the 3* Grand Prix with Mandy Hall’s Kimosa Van Het Kritrahof in Ommen, The Netherlands, outpacing all her rivals to win the feature class.

Forty-eight riders came forward over the 1.55m track with 12 returning initial clears to qualify for the jump-off.  Jodie was the first to take the inside turn to the’ Bemer’ branded oxer to gain a considerable advantage.  The following riders were no match as she guided the 13-year-old Chatman x Eros Platiere mare to win by 1.23 seconds.

I’m on such a fantastic horse. She fights for it in the ring. She can be on the lazy side but when she’s in the ring she wants to do well,” she said.

Jodie was selected for the Rolex Young Riders Academy three years ago and secured training for six months with Ben, Wim and Gerco Schroder – “I never left!”

The Schroders are equally as happy with Jodie: “Ben mainly trains Jodie.  She is an extraordinary winner; immensely driven, you almost have to slow her down,” said Wim.

Jodie will remain in Twente for the time being.

“I learn so much and have a great team behind me. I want nothing more than to develop as a rider and ride championships one day. I like riding, competitions and winning. It is also much more practical to go to the competitions from the Netherlands instead of from England. Yes of course I miss my family, but I will see them soon as I travel to Hickstead and London. My horses leave tonight (Sunday) and then I'll be home for a few weeks.”

Robert Murphy lands the 2* grand prix on Imbeer in Valkenswaard

Third in Saturday’s 2* 1.45m, Robert had Imbeer primed for the world ranking 2* Grand Prix on the final day in the Tops International Arena in Valkenswaard, The Netherlands.

Sixty-one riders contended the world ranking 1.45m track designed by Peter Schumacher with 25 returning for a hot, competitive jump-off. Robert – currently based in Belgium – made short work of the shortened and raised track on John Roberts’ Etoulon VDL x Burggraaf 10-year-old mare to edge ahead by 0.27 seconds to take the win.

Joe Clayton scored a handsome double on Unex Competition Yard Ltd’s Kingsborough Kasper at their first show together.

He jumped to the top in the 2* 1.35m as 32 contended this immediate jump-off class to win on the 10-year-old Kannan x Revenge stallion Kasper with a 1.72 sec winning advantage.  The pair went on to take the final day’s 2* 1.40m, again with an immediate jump-off, racing ahead of their 26 rivals to secure a 1.92 sec win.
