The Stepping Stones 138cm Championship has a new winner
Wednesday 04 August 2021
Jack Denis Dace riding 13-year-old Meelickisland Corncrake, known as Peggy at home, were crowned Champions in the Stepping Stones 138cm Championship Final this evening at the British Showjumping National & Academy Championships 2021. Jack stepped up to the mark with a professional performance amongst strong competition to take the title.
Only seventeen of the almost seventy starters managed to secure a place in the jump off, of which only five made it through with a double clear. Jack and Peggy have been a combination for just over a year, he explained: “She [Peggy] is really good at Showjumping, and really likes her food!” He continued: “I didn’t start off well with her, I had to learn how to ride her, we lost a few competitions but now we’ve built it back up! This is the last year I will be riding Peggy in the 138cm British Showjumping classes, then she will be handed to my sister.”
First place rider Jack, also 13-years-old, travelled up with Peggy and his proud mum from West Sussex. Their outstanding fast time of 30.63s in the jump off were closely followed by second place rider Emma Robertson and Golden Boy III, and third place Maximillian Whittington and Micky V.
