Lucy Guild becomes the 2015 Winter Grade C Champion

Having qualified for the Championship Final during the winter season, it was a tightly fought competition at the Weston Lawns Young Horse Festival in Warwickshire that saw Lucy Guild crowned the overall champion.

Lucy, a former Young Rider European Championship Team Bronze medallist rode a fantastic round with Fiona Good’s 8 year-old dark brown mare Hugana Vant Heike, making the journey from Angus in Scotland a worthwhile one.

One of ten hopeful combinations that achieved a clear in the first round, Lucy was last to go in the jump off and certainly used this to her advantage.  Producing the fastest of the five subsequent jump off clears in a time of 39.37 seconds she managed to just beat Northamptonshire based Dale Burnham’s time with Doriena, his 7 year-old bay mare, whom had stopped the clock in a time of 40.31 seconds.

Third place went to Jake Saywell, 18, from Newark, Nottinghamshire with Rachel Gascoine’s 8 year-old grey mare, Havinia Van De Roshoeve. This combination took their place in the top three after gaining their double clear in 41.94 seconds.
