2019 SUMMER AREA SHOW - BELSAY 30th JUNE

The 2019 Summer Area Show got off to an unexpected blustery start, following a few fence substitutions and a tussle with the gazebo we got underway with the show! It was our second year running the Area Show in the fabulous grounds of Belsay Castle in Northumberland and it was great to see the significant increase in support this year.

G&S Moran sponsored the British Novice section of the first class with a sash, winner’s rosette and £50 first prize going to Tiffany MacTaggart and 6yo Irango. Lorna Riley and Falizee were second and third place went to Georgia Garnett riding Ashley Effard’s Atlantic Cruising, the fastest round of the class however an unlucky fence keeping them off the top spot. Georgia returned to take the win in the 90cm Open section riding With Pleasure and Billy Davison a close second on Ballinamonapark Hquinn.

The Discovery was sponsored by the Deakin Family and this time the sash, rosette and £50 went to Holly Gair who took first and second place with Steve Gair’s Balou Bunny and Cashman 10. Kirsty Cordner and Timeless Crusader came in third place only a tenth of a second behind the winning time. The 1m Open section was won by Sophia Cuthbert and the consistent Walty L with Anneli Larsson in second place with Miss Southburn Sarsaparilla.

Bowes Manor Equestrian Centre sponsored the 1.05m A4 speed class this time £75 prize money along with the winners sash and rosette. The winner was Billy Davison and Sammy G who were 5th to go in the drawn order setting the standard with the first clear of the class, second place was Polly Douglas with Brandonview Oscar and third Lorna Riley riding WLS Tomon with less than a second between them.

Class 4 was sponsored by Graeme Ash Shopfitters Ltd, along with a sash and rosette there was £100 to the winner. Polly Douglas took an early lead this time with 7yo Hayestown Lancer and Holly Johnstone was second with a double clear on Gogobantos.

Billy Davison remained on top form to win the last class of the day, the Foxhunter/1.20m Open combined class, with his Grade B Legaland Las Vegas jumping the only double clear of the class.

On behalf of the Area 12 committee I would like to thank everyone for their support and hope to see you all next year.
