Madison Heath takes the Redpost Equestrian Foxhunter Second Round at Vale View

The Redpost Equestrian Senior Foxhunter Championship Second Rounds continued this weekend at Vale View Equestrian, where Madison Heath emerged victorious.

Comprising three rounds of competition, 49 combinations entered the arena for the first round. Of these, 16 secured clear rounds to progress to the second round, and 10 advanced to the jump-off. The tension mounted during the nail-biting jump-off, with Madison Heath narrowly clinching the win aboard the Carrera Stud’s BP Millionaire.

Annabel Shields was first to go with Jon Chadwick’s Corrindubh Brother In Arms and set the standard for those who followed, stopping the clock in 36.72 seconds. No one was able to match the time until Madison entered the area from mid draw on the game seven-year-old gelding and knocked 0.50 seconds off Annabel’s time to relegate her into second place and move into top spot. Laura Renwick was third last to go with her own Top Star C and chased hard to slot into third place, just 0.29 seconds in arrears.

“He was really good and I knew he had a good chance of qualifying, but I also knew there were other great riders in the jump-off,” said Madison. “Annabel [Shields] and Laura [Renwick] are two of the fastest lady riders on the circuit so I wasn’t sure I could beat them.

“I don’t think I’m rode that fast, but I went in and aimed for a good clear and hoped for the best and that we would qualify for the British Showjumping National Championships, and it paid off. He love bananas so he has had lots of them since we’ve been home.

“He only came to me just before Christmas so I’m still getting to know him. Everyone says he is like a big pony, but he’s very scopey. This will be my first time back at HOYS on horses so I’m very excited,” added Madison.

The Senior Newcomers Second Round proved to be a hotly contested competition as Joe Trunkfield emerged on top with Jane Noton’s Usha Z, 0.48 seconds ahead of second placed Harriet Hodge, riding Mark Hodge’s Lethal Weapon. Third place went the way of Fraser Reed, riding Matthew Pike’s Nairobi Lita SS, the pair just a further 0.15 second off the pace.
