British riders post wins in Europe and The USA in this week’s international round-up

Jake Ward claims a win at Tryon International with Dori 66

Jake Ward claimed victory in the Equijet CSI3* 1.45m Speed Stakes at Tryon International in The USA with Dori 66.

Course-designer Ana Cruz Harris set a 1.45m track and Jake cruised round on the German-bred Dori (Darshan x For Pleasure), an 11-year-old mare he has ridden for the past three years, to win with not only the fastest time by 0.17 seconds, but the sole clear round.

Olli Fletcher takes a podium place at Peelbergen in The Netherlands

Olli Fletcher jumped Cajus 42 into second in the Tucci 2* 1.40m at Peelbergen Equestrian Centre in Kronenberg, The Netherlands.

Seventy-five competitors came forward over the 1.40m two-phase track designed by Henk Linders with Olli setting an early target from sixth draw on the Comme Il Faut 5 x Quidam’s Rubin 12-year-old.  He held on to the top spot despite many challenges until the late-drawn Iris Michels who fired Isaac into a victory for The Netherlands by 0.68 seconds.

Chad Fellows claimed a winning double.   He bested all competitors in the Roelofsen Horsetrucks 2* 1.35m with Continent 7.  Eighty-eight came forward over the 11-fence, 12-effort two-phase track but Chad was the only rider to break the 30 second barrier, guiding the Cordess 2 x Contendro I 10-year-old Continent into a 0.36 second win.

Thirty-nine contended the Schelstraete Equine Law 2* 1.35m speed but again Chad returned triumphant, edging ahead by 0.22 seconds on the nine-year-old NPS Klooney (NPS Super Nova x Toulon).

Gemma Wright landed two of the top three places with two nine-year-old mares in the big entry 92-strong Utopia 1* 1.30m speed, winning by 0.55 seconds on Mooilande (Up To Date x San Patrignano Mister) and taking third aboard Meiminka.

Maddie Heath scores a hat-trick at Royan Horse Club in France

Fresh from her multi-winning success at Bolesworth International, Maddie Heath maintained her form in Royan, France, with a hat-trick of wins.

Maddie’s Bolesworth double Under 25 champion BP Millionaire got the ball rolling on day one with victory in the 2* 1.30m.  Forty-five competitors bid for glory over the two-phase track, but Maddie had it sewn up on the Million Dollar x Centurion eight-year-old, winning by 0.19 seconds.

Maddie gave BP Millionaire an easy trip in a later 42-entry 2* 1.35m speed, finishing second by 4.30 seconds.   The pair also picked up second in the 67-strong 2* 1.40m two-phase half a second of the winning time.

The exuberant Ivory (Don VHP Z x Cartogran), also a winner at Bolesworth, clocked up two wins.  Second in the 65-strong 1* 1.30m speed on day one only 0.12 seconds in arrears, the mare soon moved up to winning mode.  A field of 41 came forward in the hotly contended 1.30m two-phase, Maddie and the 13-year-old edging ahead by only 0.08 seconds.  The pair went on to win the 1* Grand Prix.  The 1.35m course reduced the 37 starters to 15 for the jump-off, Maddie and Ivory outpacing them by 1.09 seconds.

Joe Fernyhough claimed a podium place in the 55-horse 2* 1.45m speed on Calcourt Countdown, taking third 1.59 seconds behind the pace.
