National Development Squad
The British Showjumping National Development Squad is designed to provide individualised performance development for talented riders aiming to progress within the sport and reach their full potential at national and international level.
This two-year programme offers structured support and access to expert coaching and specialist practitioners, helping riders refine their skills both in and out of the arena.
To be considered for selection, riders must meet the following minimum performance standards:
- Ages 16–18: Minimum of 2 double clears at 1.40m
- Ages 19–21: Minimum of 2 double clears at 1.40m plus 1 double clear at 1.45m
- Ages 22–28: Minimum of 3 double clears at 1.40m plus 2 double clears at 1.45m
Each year includes four two-day training camps featuring coaching from Programme Coaches Matt Lanni and Nicola McLeish. Riders also receive comprehensive support from a range of expert practitioners, including:
- Equine physiotherapist
- Saddler, farrier, and vet
- Rider fitness coach
- Course designer
- Anti-doping and media training specialists
