Staffordshire riders shine in KBIS Insurance British Novice Second Round at Hanbury Show
Sunday 03 July 2011

This weekend saw Hanbury and District Horse Show been held at Park Hall Farm, Hanbury. Hosting a KBIS Insurance British Novice Second Round there was another chance for competitors to qualify for the Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival 2011. With thirty one starters there were two qualification tickets up for grabs giving spectators an exciting competition.
The first round had twelve combinations jump clear to go into the first jump off with only one competitor not jumping clear again the final jump off saw eleven competitors fight it out for the top two spots.
It was eighteen year old James Hemming from Staffordshire that came out on top riding his mothers (Carol) five year old grey mare Cristal Clear VII. Jumping three clears in a jump off time of 38.21 seconds proved unbeatable giving James the first Cushionbed British Showjumping Scope Festival.
Picking up second place was Sam Wall also from Staffordshire riding Lee Harvey’s nine year old British bred chestnut gelding What a Boy II. Jumping clear Sam was only a fraction off the winning time coming home in 38.29 seconds.
Ami Measor from Oxfordshire once again partnered Jane Dexter’s nine year old black gelding Victory II trying to add to the win they had last weekend at the Wiltshire area show in the Equissage Discovery second round. Although jumping a triple clear Ami couldn’t quite match the winning time coming home in 38.61 seconds which left her in third place.
