MILLIE ALLEN ON SONG IN THE FAIRFAX WINTER JA CLASSIC CHAMPIONSHIP

The hotly contested Fairfax Winter JA Classic Championship took place this weekend (Sunday 7th July 2013) at the Charles Stanley British Masters at SouthView Competition & Training Centre in Wettenhall, Cheshire.

With a newly developed 'Fairfax Close Contact Jump' saddle being presented to this year’s winner and the class being watched by the Pony Team Chef d’Equipe, Selectors and Team Coach, the twenty combinations starting out had it all to play for and with seven making it through into the jump off, competition was fierce.

With two combinations achieving a double clear, the clock proved ever critical. Taking the win in impressive style was 15 year-old Millie Allen from Stockton-on-Tees, Cleveland on board the 10 year-old bay mare, Song Girl, owned by Peter Allen. Their double clear was achieved in 29.82 seconds and this win capped a successful competition for Millie, who also won the European Viewing Trial the previous day on Scoubidou IV.

The only other double clear of the class was produced by 16 year-old Amy Inglis from Haywards Heath, West Sussex. Amy rode Claire Inglis’ 14 year-old chestnut mare, Lea Du Genier and the combination stopped the clock on 32.30 seconds.

Third place was taken by 15 year-old Faye Adams from Halesowen, West Midlands on Some Like It Hot, a 14 year-old chestnut mare owned by Julie Adams. Faye produced a fast time of 29.27 seconds on the mare, but they collected an unfortunate four faults to drop them into third.
