All of the combinations were competing with producing a treble clear in mind so as to qualify for the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final, which will be held at the Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival.
Twelve combinations went on to contest the final jump off in which seven combinations produced the desired and all-important treble clear.
The quickest treble clear of the class was produced by 23 year-old Alex Bishop from Lewes, East Sussex with Alison Marshall’s 7 year-old bay gelding, Nightwatch V. The combination were sixth to go in the jump off and they took the win after posting their treble clear in 35.85 seconds.
Commenting on his win, Alex said "It was quite a competitive jump off and I am really pleased with Nightwatch’s performance, he jumped really well. I would like to say thank you to his owner Alison for giving me the opportunity to ride him.”
Mark Townshend (25) from Studley, Warwickshire took second place on his own 5 year-old bay gelding Enrico VI. This combination secured their treble clear in a time of 39.37 seconds.
Third place was awarded to 21 year-old Rebecca Hanlon from Kidderminster, Worcestershire and she was on board her own 6 year-old grey mare Calcourt Luxurious. They clocked up their third clear in 46.04 seconds.
