Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds at Greenlands Equestrian Centre

A busy weekend at Greenlands Equestrian Centre in Carlisle, Cumbria saw the venue host three of the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds across the following heights; 1.00m, 1.10m and 1.15m. The Second Rounds were held on Sunday 14th October 2012 and the eligible horse and rider combinations flocked to the second rounds with the aim of qualifying for the Championships. 
 
Following a competitive season of first round competitions, competitors rode for the chance to qualify for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree International Equestrian Centre in November 2012 and all of the starting combinations were all hoping to secure one of the twelve direct qualifying tickets on offer for the Championships. 
 
Dodson & Horrell 1.00m National Amateur Second Round. 
This 1.00m National Amateur Second Round attracted 15 starting combinations and from these combinations, seven made it through into the jump off. 
 
The overall winner was 42-year-old Angela Mills from Haswell, County Durham and she achieved a double clear on board her own eight-year-old bay gelding, Quids In II. The combination produced a time of 36.64 seconds to ensure the win was theirs.
 
Second place was secured by 31-year-old Samantha Moss from Lancaster. Samantha was on board on board her own nine-year-old bay gelding, William Utopia and the combination achieved their jump of clear in a time of 39.08 seconds.
 
Third place was filled by 39-year-old Lynn Montgomerie from Carlisle, Cumbria and she secured her Championship Final place on board Pauldary’s Flick Flack, her own 13-year old dark bay gelding. The combination achieved their double clear in a time of 42.58 seconds. 
 
Four more riders also achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.00m National Amateur Championship Final.

4th Laura Frisby riding Sheraton Matilda – 0/0 – 47.93 seconds
5th Sophie Boyd riding Clough Bank Gem – 0/4 – 39.79 seconds
6th Claire Donaghue riding Miss YoYo – 0/4 – 46.67 seconds
7th Joanne Marlor riding Blesse Vd Mosthoven – 0/E
 
Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round. 
The 1.10m National Amateur Second Round attracted five starting combinations and two of these combinations achieved the first round clear required to get through to the jump off.
 
In this second round, the top spot was filled by 29-year-old Danielle Blair from Carlisle, Cumbria and won the class on board her own 11-year-old brown gelding, Urion T. The combination posted a time of 30.80 seconds to ensure that they won the class by over a second.
 
In second place was 16-year-old Sophie Boyd from Cumbria and she achieved her double clear on board Clough Bank Gem, an eight-year-old bay mare owned by Stephanie Boyd. The combination posted a jump off clear in a time of 32.16 seconds.

1st Danielle Blair riding Urion T – 0/0 – 30.80 seconds 
2nd Sophie Boyd riding Clough Bank Gem – 0/0 – 32.16 seconds
 
Dodson & Horrell 1.15m National Amateur Second Round. 
This 1.15m Second Round saw six combinations start and from these, two combinations made it through to the jump off. 
 
Securing the win and her second Championship Final place was 39-year-old Lynn Montgomerie from Carlisle, Cumbria on board Pauldary’s Flick Flack, her own 13-year old dark bay gelding. The combination achieved their second double clear of the day in a time of 35.79 seconds. 
 
In second place was 39-year-old Anita Leadbetter from Darlington, County Durham and she secured her Championship Final place on board Taxing Times, her own eight-year-old dark bay gelding.

The Dodson & Horrell National Amateur & Veteran Championships 2012 take place from the 15th November – 18th November 2012 at Aintree International Equestrian Centre.
