Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round at Dean Valley

Dean Valley in Stockport, Cheshire was the host venue for a Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round on Sunday 22nd September 2013. Seventeen eligible combinations came forward to contest this second round and nine went on to collected one of the direct qualifying places on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 14th – 17th November 2013.

The jump off for this second round proved to be closely fought with the winner taking the top spot by just 0.16 seconds. The eventual winner was 43 year-old Rachael North from Shrewsbury, Shropshire and she was board her own 13 year-old bay mare, Madira De Reve. A blistering and immaculate double clear in 36.09 seconds ensured that the combination clinched victory and the £100 top prize.

Narrowly beaten into second place was 56 year-old Mimi Owen from Malpas, Cheshire on her own mount, Westview Ronald, a 12 year-old bay gelding. This pairing stopped the clock on a double clear in a time of 36.25 seconds and in doing so, secured their top two finish.

Third place went to 24 year-old Emily Froehlich from Leyland, Lancashire. Emily was on her own 9 year-old grey mare, Utasha and this combination also produced a fantastic double, delivering theirs in a time of 38.91 seconds.

Six additional riders also achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Championship Final.
