Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Second Round at the Welsh Home Pony 2013

The Welsh Home Pony 2013 at Wales & West, The David Broome Event played host to the penultimate Blue Chip Pony Newcomers second round on Friday 26th July 2013. The second round proved to be incredibly popular, with 93 starting combinations in attendance.
Up for grabs at this second round were two direct qualifying tickets for the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) and all of the starting combinations were aiming to take one of these tickets home.
Of the 93 starters, eighteen combinations produced the double clear required to make it through into the final jump off and three combinations went on to produce an important treble clear. Those treble clears meant that the places were decided by the clock.
The win was taken by 13 year-old Ryder Hayes Hollington from Essex. Ryder took victory on Erinagh Beg, a 16 year-old piebald mare owned by Leanne Hollington. The combination competed with great accuracy to secure a treble clear in a fast time of 42.40 seconds.
Second place went to 16 year-old Ellie Eaton from Suffolk and the 8 year-old chestnut gelding Westervelds Florijn, owned by Lori Eaton. This combination also produced an immaculate treble clear and they finished on 44.04 seconds.
The first two pony and rider combinations, disregarding those already qualified, will qualify for the Horse of the Year Show. The first five, disregarding those already qualified, will qualify for the Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival 2013. Ponies and riders that jump a treble clear also qualify for the Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival 2013.

The Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) 2013 will take place from the 9th – 13th October 2013 at the Birmingham NEC.
The Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival 2013 will take place from the 25th – 31st August 2013 at Staffordshire County Showground.
