Team Audevard Secure Podium Finish for Great Britain in Rabat Nations Cup

The Nations Cup in Rabat, Morocco, provided an exciting weekend of top-level sport as ten international teams came forward to contest the competition at the Fédération Royale Marocaine des Sports Équestres. Flying the flag for Great Britain was Team Audevard, who drew fourth to go in the starting order under the guidance of Chef d’Équipe Stanny Van Paesschen.

The British line-up featured a blend of talent and experience: Jane Annett with her own Jywan, Chloe Aston riding Akito von Rocherath Z, jointly owned by Sean Aston and Edgar Stoffels, and Joe Whitaker with Hulahupe JR, owned by Jessica Crane.

The opening round set the tone for a strong performance. First in for Team Audevard, Chloe Aston, produced a stylish clear to get the team off to the perfect start. Jane Annett followed with another foot-perfect round, but picked up a late time fault that left her on a single penalty. Anchoring the team, Joe Whitaker also jumped a superb round, but like Jane, just missed the time allowed and incurred one time fault. This left Great Britain carrying only two penalties after the first round, securing second place on the leaderboard and keeping them firmly in contention heading into round two.

The pressure mounted as the second round began, and once again Chloe Aston rose to the occasion, delivering another outstanding clear to give her team early momentum. Unfortunately, Jane Annett was less fortunate on her return to the arena, lowering two fences to add eight penalties to the score. Last to go, Joe Whitaker remained composed but was caught out by a single pole down, finishing on four faults.

When the results were confirmed, Great Britain’s Team Audevard secured a podium finish in third place—an excellent result against a highly competitive international field. The team’s consistency and determination stood out, with Chloe Aston’s impressive double clear a particular highlight. First place was secured by Team Saudi Arabia, with second place going to Team Italy.

The Nations Cup in Rabat was a thrilling contest and an excellent showcase of international showjumping at the Fédération Royale Marocaine des Sports Équestres. Team Audevard’s podium finish will provide a welcome boost of confidence as they continue their campaign on the Nations Cup circuit.
