Sunday 02 March 2014
The Spanish CSI2* International Show in Oliva saw 16 year-old Millie Allen from Stockton-on-Tees head the line-up after a thrilling jump off in the Bronze Tour Grand Prix. Riding the 8 year-old gelding Brooklyn 28 owned by HS Sportpferde GMBH she produced one of the only four double clears of the competition in a time of 47.97 seconds to secure the title as her own relegating Danny McGlynn with Atletico van d’Abelendreef, a 14 year-old chestnut gelding owned by Team Harmony Management into 2nd place.
The CSI 3* Gold Tour saw London 2012 Team Gold medallist, Peter Charles MBE take 2nd place in the 1.50m Gold Tour Grand Prix with Murka’s Odie de Frevent, a 12 year-old bay mare owned by Olga White and Team Murka. Their double clear in a time of 45.61 seconds wasn’t quite fast enough to catch Henrik Griese for Germany with Comtessa 88 despite it being almost 5 seconds faster than Gerk Schroder (NL) and Urban Hero who finished 3rd.
The CSI 1* which runs alongside the CSI2* event also saw a British Grand Prix win. This time in the form of Alice Watson with Kobold v. Schlosslihof, an 11 year-old grey gelding owned by Kimberley Nienhaus as a result of their nail biting finish in a time of 40.24 seconds, just .5 of a second faster than Brazilian rider Marlon Zaontelli who took second place.
