KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Regional Final at Redpost Showjumping Club

The eleventh of the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Regional Finals was held last weekend on Sunday 29th July 2012 at Redpost Showjumping Club in Totnes, Devon. The class attracted entries from over 20 eligible horse and rider combinations, all hoping to claim their Championship Final qualification.
The class saw riders gather from all over the country with the aim of qualifying for the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final, which will be held at the Plevin British Showjumping Scope Festival (26th August – 1st September 2012).
From the total number of entries, 21 combinations started in the Regional Final and seven combinations managed to gain two clear rounds to make it through to the final jump off. In the final jump off, all the remaining combinations were hoping to produce the crucial treble clear required to qualify for the Championship Final.
From those who made it into the final jump off, four combinations went on to produce the required treble clear, securing their Final place for August.
The overall winner of the Regional Final was 28-year-old Jon Paull from Newquay, Cornwall. Jon won the class on board Tara Physick’s seven-year-old bay gelding, Emilions Alano. Jon was the only rider who managed to clear the jump off course in less than 45.00 seconds, putting in a time of 44.82 seconds, securing his win.
Second place went to 20-year-old Jessica Beadman from Paignton, Devon. Jessica brought Kate Soper’s eight-year-old bay gelding, Diamond Rocks, home clear over the jump off course in a time of 46.64 seconds to clinch a qualifying spot for the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final.
The combination in third place was 23-year-old Maxine Enever from Liskeard, Cornwall. Maxine rode her own six-year-old grey gelding, Baltimore Meerlo clear over the jump off course in a time of 47.92 seconds.
The final treble clear was produced by 32-year-old Jenny Spiller from Exeter, Devon. Jenny’s treble clear on board her own 14-year-old chestnut gelding, Robbie VI, ensured the she had booked the combination’s place in the Championship Final. Their time of 52.47 seconds in the jump off meant that they finished in fourth place.

The Plevin Shavings British Showjumping Scope Festival 2012 will take place from the 26th August – 1st September 2012 at Staffordshire County Showground.
