KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Second Rounds Continue at Dorset Showground

During a busy weekend of second round competitions, forty-three combinations made the journey to Dorset Showground in Gillingham on Sunday 10th May in order to contest a KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Second Round.

With a place in the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final at the British Showjumping National Championships at stake, each and every competitor rode with the aim of finishing the class with a treble clear result.

In a ten horse jump off, just four combinations went on to secure a treble clear and the fastest of these was produced by 27 year-old Amanda Robson from Launceston, Cornwall with her own 6 year-old dark bay gelding, Edelboy VD Renger. Drawn as the sixth to go in the jump off and with only two treble clears having been produced before her, Amanda focused on riding a clean and rhythmical round. This tactic paid off when the combination crossed the finish line with the fences still up in a time of 39.53 seconds.

When asked about her round, Amanda said “As there hadn’t been many treble clears produced before it was my turn to go, I knew that I had the chance to ride a round that would put me up in the placings. Although it was the first time that I had pushed Edelboy against the clock, he really held his own to give me a good clear round. I am so pleased with his performance.”

Emily Dewey, aged 29, from Shaftesbury, Dorset took second place on her own 5 year-old bay stallion Arlingthon. This combination delivered their treble clear in a time of 43.97 seconds.

Third place went to 18 year-old Rebecca Symons from Bideford, Devon who was partnering her father Richard’s 7 year-old chestnut gelding Rossaguille Harry. They gained their treble clear in 44.65 seconds to give them a podium finish.

Following this second round, a total of four combinations will now go forward to the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final.
