Annual General Meeting - Monday 4th April
Join us at The Stables Equine Practice – Wookey – BA5 1NH at 7.30pm on Monday 4th April 2016 for the 2015 Points Championship Awards, Outstanding Contribution to the Area Award, a Round-up of the 2015 Year & accounts, the way forward for 2016 & 2017, plus a chance for you to meet the committee & other area members to express your views & idea’s.

The Area Points Championship Awards runs from 1st January to 31st December each year. We invite all members to put their names forward to the Points Championship, for those that do we access your horse records via British Showjumping Online & calculate your points upon you placings, each win is converted to 6 points, each second to 5 points and so on down the line, double clear classes are counted at half points, placings in prestigious qualifiers are rewarded with double points along with all classes 1.30m & over, and prestigious finals are rewarded with triple points along with all placings at the Area Show.
We offer 5 Perpetual Trophies & Special Prizes to the members who have gained the most points on a Novice Horse, a Novice Pony (under 699 British Showjumping Points), an Open Horse, an Open Pony & the Leading Senior Rider (Points from a Combination of Horses), Special Prizes are also offered to 2nd & 3rd places, with rosettes being offered to the top 6 in each section. This year we have also introduced an award for the highest placed Academy Member.

We are always looking for Sponsors for classes at the Area Show, so if you are interested or know of anyone who might be, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are always grateful of how ever much people can sponsors, as little as £50.00 can sponsor first place in a lower class with £450.00 sponsoring all prizes in a bigger class. All Sponsors are offered refreshments during the show & advertisement on the Rosettes, Schedule, Website & Social Media pages.

Please Note:  Chard Equestrian Centre have installed an All Weather Outdoor Surface that will be fully operational April 2016. 
 
National Team Qualifying Round – Sunday 26th June – at Bicton Arena
Bristol & Somerset Area will be putting two teams into the National Team Competition at Bicton Arena on Sunday 26th June 2016. Please contact Olivia March, Hannah Thorne or Helen Anderson to register your interest
Final team selection will be made by Friday 10th June 2016, team selection will be based on current form.
We will be looking for 4 riders on Grade C horses (not on the Silver League as at 31st March 2016) to compete over a height of either 90cm or 1m, and 4 riders on any grade horses to compete over a height of either 1.10m or 1.15m, we are looking for riders that are confident in a 1.20m Jump Off, these riders also must not be on the Gold list as at 31st March 2016. Please Note: Only one team can qualify for the Final at The National Championships in August, Members in the Qualifying Team are expected to attend the final; a contribution towards travel to the final can be offered. Bristol & Somerset pay all entries but also collect all prize money. 
 
The ‘Chard Equestrian’ Bristol & Somerset Academy
Hold training sessions throughout the year which are open to all members until December after their 21st birthday. Sessions are currently being held on a weekly basis on a Tuesday evening at Badgworth Arena. These sessions alternate between pony sessions & horse sessions, and are held with our lead coach Jayne Smart. Additional training sessions are held during half term & the summer holidays with opportunities to train with other UKCC Level 3 Coaches.
“Jayne Smart is a UKCC Level 3 Coach she has successfully competed in numerous prestigious Championships at Horse of the Year Show, Olympia, The Royal International Horse Show on horses she has produced herself.  Jayne has also competed in Working Hunter Finals & evented around Winsor, Blenheim, Burley & Badminton.”

The ‘Chard Equestrian’ Bristol & Somerset Academy is invited to enter into various Academy Team Competitions during the year, such as Devon County Show, The Royal Bath & West & Dorchester County Show.
Four academy members are selected for each team, providing that they have attended 3 Academy session & are competent competing at the designated heights. 
·         Saturday 21st May – Devon County Academy Team Comp
·         Saturday 4th June – Bath & West Academy Team Comp
·         Saturday 3rd September – Dorset County Academy Team Comp 
 
Alongside these County Academy Teams Events, the academy is invited to enter other Academy Team Competitions such as Bicton Arena, Weston Lawns & Somerset & Wiltshire Academy Shows. If you wish to be considered for any of these Team Events, please contact Alison Tutt or Jayne Smart.
 
Training opportunities for members over 21 will be made available at various points throughout the year. 
 
The Bristol & Somerset Social Event
Bristol & Somerset will once again be holding a social event in 2016 where members can gather away from their horses, and let their hair down. If you have any suggestion of what this can involve please contact Olivia March, Hannah Thorne or Helen Anderson.
