John Whitaker finishes 3rd at the Paris Masters

Saturday 03 December 2016

The Longines CSI 5* Paris Masters enjoyed some stunning sport yesterday with the showcase class of the evening thrilling the crowds right to the very end..

The Laiterie du Montaigu Trophy, set at 1.50m, saw forty six competitors come forward and just four of them going clear in the first round.  John Whitaker made up one of the quartet with his own and wife Clare’s 14 year-old British Bred stallion Argento,  by the legendary Arko, and crowds couldn’t have cheered him any louder than they did when he came through the finish on zero penalties.

The jump off round saw have an unlucky touch of a pole to pick up 4 penalties in a time of 38.49 seconds.  Their time though enough to see them finish in 3rd place  just ahead of Maelle Martin and Giovani de la Pomme for Franc who matched their penalty score breaking the finish line in 39.39 seconds.

The class went to Italian rider Lorenzo de Luca and Limestone Grey with Abdelkebir Ouaddar and Quickly de Kreisker for Morocco taking 2nd.
