Dodson & Horrell 0.95cm and 1.05m National Amateur Second Rounds at Brook Farm Training Centre

Brook Farm Training Centre in Romford, Essex held two Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Rounds last weekend for competitors competing at 0.95cm and 1.05m and both classes were held on Saturday 13th September 2014.

All of the competitors were aiming to collect one of the twelve direct qualifying places on offer in each second round for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree Equestrian Centre in Liverpool during the 19th – 23rd November 2014.

Twenty combinations in total came forward for this second round and fourteen of these produced a first round clear to be eligible for the jump off. Five double clears were then produced, whilst the rest of field focused on producing as low scoring rounds as possible.

The win in this second round was taken by 17 year-old Toni Evans from Southend-On-Sea, Essex and she was on board Caramel Twist, a 17 year-old dun mare owned by Kerry Evans. Toni and Caramel Twist were the penultimate combination to go in the jump off and they used this to their advantage. Knowing that a fast clear would put them in with a chance of winning, they produced an immaculate and speedy round to stop the clock in 37.63 seconds, giving them over three seconds in hand.

Coco Anderson, 15, from Cambridge took second place with Dark Rose, a 6 year-old bay mare owned by Reiko Anderson. The combination secured two clear rounds to finish on a time of 40.76 seconds, taking their place in the top two comfortably.

Third place was secured by 17 year-old Elizabeth Barr from Ely, Cambridgeshire on Wild Montana Skies, a 12 year-old bay mare owned by Deborah Barr. This combination put in two foot perfect rounds to jump their double clear in 47.70 seconds.

A further nine riders also achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 0.95cm National Amateur Championship Final.
