The College Equestrian Centre, Keysoe Pony Premier Show

Pony riders from all over the country came together at The College Equestrian Centre in Keysoe, Bedford for the Pony Premier Show last weekend. With talented ponies and riders all vying for the qualification places on offer, it proved to be a fabulous two days of competitive showjumping.   

Pony Foxhunter Second Round – Saturday 10th June 2017

Nicole Lockhead Anderson, aged 15, from Banchory, Aberdeenshire gave the winning performance on board Gangnam Style II, an 8 year-old bay gelding owned by Claire Lockhead. In the five horse jump off, this pair crossed the finish line on an immaculate treble clear in just 46.22 seconds.

The top three combinations secured a ticket straight to October’s Pony Foxhunter Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show, whilst the riders and ponies placed fourth and fifth took home the chance to compete in the Pony Foxhunter Masters at the British Showjumping National Championships in August.

4th Daisy Mckinlay & Ashwey Patchwork Sparrow – 0/0/0 – 51.54 seconds

5th Harry Wood & Patchwork Poncho – 0/0/11 – 58.84 seconds

Pony Showjumper of the Year – Saturday 10th June 2017

Fifteen year-old Antonia Platt from Chelmsford, Essex scooped up first place riding Carnhill Luna, an 11 year-old bay gelding owned by Rosalind Platt. This pair proved their form as they produced the only double clear of the class to cross the finish line in 53.03 seconds.

The top three went on to secure the Horse of the Year Show places available, whilst the pair in fourth took home the chance to compete at the British Showjumping National Championships.

2nd Nicole Lockhead Anderson & Claggan Gypsy Delight –0/4 – 47.94 seconds

HOYS 128cm Qualifier – Saturday 10th June 2017

Olivia Banks, aged 11, from Sealand, Chester topped the leader board with Remington Steal, a 13 year-old grey gelding owned by Emma Banks. In a close three pony jump off this pair produced a treble clear and finished in an unbeatable time of 38.46 seconds.   

The top three combinations took home a place in the HOYS 128cms Championship Final held at the prestigious Horse of the Year Show in October.

1st Olivia Banks & Remington Steal – 0/0/0 – 38.46 seconds

2nd Charlie Atkinson & Bunbury Conquest – 0/0/0 – 44.18 seconds

3rd Elouise Squibb & Wyndham Tom Thumb – 0/0/4 – 47.82 seconds

NB: Qualifications will be updated pending official grading of results.

The Horse of the Year Show 2017 will take place from the 4th – 8th October at Birmingham’s NEC. The British Showjumping National Championships 2017 will take place during the 8th – 13th August at the National Agricultural and Exhibition Centre (NAEC), Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire.
