Squibb Group Pony Foxhunter Second Round at Bury Farm Equestrian Village

Another popular class of the Pony Premier Show at Bury Farm Equestrian Village in Slapton, Buckinghamshire was the Squibb Group Pony Foxhunter Second Round and this ran on Sunday 20th July 2014. A total of forty-three combinations came forward to contest the class.

With three direct qualifying tickets available for the Squibb Group Pony Foxhunter Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show, each starter was hoping to claim one of these tickets as their own.

Following the first two rounds of the class, just five combinations went on to contest the jump off and three then went on to secure the desired third clear.

The win in this second round came from the first combination to go in the jump off and this was 16 year-old Alex Gill from Northallerton, North Yorkshire on Running Bear, a 7 year-old piebald gelding owned by Ian Gill. This combination achieved the only sub 46.00 seconds treble clear of the class and they took victory after stopping the clock on 45.52 seconds.

Second place was taken by 15 year-old Henry Truelove from Brigg, South Humberside who was riding the 13 year-old bay mare Quilitymaes Z, owned by Michelle Hughes. Henry posted three good rounds to finish with zero faults in 47.61 seconds.

Third place went to 16 year-old Chloe Reynolds from Chard, Somerset and she was on board Ashwey Patchwork Sparrow, a 6 year-old dun gelding owned by Jane Reynolds. The combination secured the third and final treble clear of the class in 51.90 seconds to secure their place in the top three.

The first three pony and rider combinations, disregarding those already qualified, will qualify for the Horse of the Year Show. The first five, disregarding those already qualified, will qualify for the Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival. Ponies and riders that jump a treble clear also qualify for the Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival.
