NEW YEAR HONOURS LIST
Saturday 29 December 2012
British Showjumping are thrilled to be congratulating Scott Brash, Peter Charles and Ben Maher for their inclusion on the 2013 New Year Honours List.
All three have been awarded with a Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for their services to equestrianism following their performance in the Team competition at the London 2012 Olympics which saw them secure a Team Gold medal.
This was the first gold medal that Great Britain had won for sixty years, a tremendous feat by the team of four which also included Nick Skelton OBE who played a pivotal role by jumping clear across each leg of the team competition. Nick was awarded an OBE earlier this year for his services to showjumping which he collected recently.
Also joining the three team riders on the list with an MBE is World Class Performance Director, Will Connell who led the equestrian teams to incredible triumph. This was the first Olympic Games when all equestrian teams have medalled. To have done it in such style with Showjumping, Dressage and Para-Equestrian all securing Gold Medals in addition to Eventing’s Team Silver was a tremendous testament to Will’s leadership.
Congratulations are also extended to the following Team GB riders acknowledged on the list: Sophie Christiansen, Charlotte Dujardin, Natasha Baker, Laura Bechtolsheimer, Deborah Criddle, Carl Hester, Mary King, Sophie Wells. All were awarded an MBE with the exception of Sophie and Charlotte who were acknowledged with an OBE.
