Katy Griffiths Jumps to Victory in the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Second Round at the British Showjumping Gwent Area Show

Katy Griffiths took on a solid field of twenty-two combinations at the British Showjumping Gwent Area Show and jumped straight into the top spot on board Alfie George. Taking this win, Katy secured her appearance at the prestigious Championship Final which will be held at the British Showjumping National Championships in August.

Each competitor began the day with a glint of determination in their eyes as they were looking to produce a desired treble clear against the all-important clock. Just eight combinations made it through to the final jump off.

Katy from Haverfordwest, Dyfed used her penultimate draw to her benefit. She eased Rebecca Curtis’ 7 year-old bay gelding smoothly round the course, crossing the finish line on their unbeatable treble clear score in 41.50 seconds.

Riding into second place on board Glynn Salter’s 5 year-old iron grey gelding, Catoka, was Sophie Heaven from Cardiff. This pair gave Katy a real run for her money as they posted a time of 41.69 seconds, just a fraction of a second slower than the pair in the top spot.

Keeping the times at the top of the leader board tight and taking third place was India Sime from Haverfordwest, Dyfed. Riding Delaplane Bee, a 5 year-old grey mare owned by Helen Sime, the pair left all poles in place to secure a treble clear in 41.84 seconds.

With another three combinations also achieving a treble clear, a total of six combinations now go forward to the Nupafeed Supplements Senior Discovery Championship Final.
