John Hales Expresses his Thanks
Monday 23 April 2012
John Hales, owner of the Grand National 2012 winner, Neptune Collonges (Nipper), would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who kindly sent their congratulations to him, his family and all connections associated with Nipper following his photo-finish win earlier this month. Everyone’s kind words have been very much appreciated by both John and his family, all of whom are thrilled that Nipper could finish his racing career on such a high.
11-year-old gelding Nipper became the first grey since 1961 to win the Grand National and the win gave John his first Grand National victory. After the win, John said “I just wanted him to get round safe and sound and I never dreamed that he would win it. We always said, win, lose or draw, that’s it and he thoroughly deserves his retirement. He’s going to do a lot of visits and raising money for charity, and I hope lots of parades. Nipper will enjoy lots of pampering and five-course meals!”.
John, in addition to being British Showjumping President from 2005 -2008, is also one of the sports longstanding and most successful owners. In particular, John owns the globally renowned Arko III who retired having won in excess of £1,000,000 in prize funds as a result of his tremendous international successes. John also owns Russel II, who represented Great Britain at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
