International CSI2* Round Up

The British flag was flying high in the CSI2* shows this weekend with wins in Lier, Belgium and Oliva, Spain.
In the Lier €24,000 Grand Prix, Great Britain took the top two places with Sam Hutton from Surrey claiming the title as his own by producing the only double clear of the competition with Dunwalk Ltd’s 10 year-old bay mare Heidi du Ruisseau Z.
It was 17 year-old Jessica Mendoza that took 2nd place with her mother’s (Sarah) and John Roberts’ 13 year-old brown mare Spirit T. Jessica was the only competitor who managed to beat Sam’s time of 35.36 seconds by stopping the clock in a time of 34.55 seconds, however a fence down on the course saw 4 faults being accrued and them taking 2nd place. Third place was allocated to Belgium’s Dirk Demeersman and Artemise du Houssoit who also incurred 4 penalties finishing in a time of 35.84 seconds.
It was also another British one-two in the €1000 CSI 2* Oliva Bronze Tour Grand Prix with Daniel McGlynn from Suffolk and Team Harmony’s 14 year-old chestnut gelding Atletico Van D’abelendreef who, despite picking up four faults in the jump off, stopped the clock in 46.26 seconds to win the class.
17 year-old Sussex based, Amy Inglis riding her mother’s (Claire) 12 year-old bay gelding Cupido vant Schuurke finished in 2nd place on 5 faults relegating Spanish rider Enrique Porta Bereciartua with Aixa del Maset into 3rd place with their six penalties in the jump off.
