Guy Williams & Depardieu Win The Sunshine Tour Grand Prix
Monday 19 March 2012
Kent based Guy Williams and Lyndsay Doran’s grey gelding Depardieu Van’t Keizelhof secured the €57,500 Grand Prix on the Sunshine Tour over the weekend by producing the fastest double clear of the competition. With only eight riders going clear in the first round and being eligible for the Jump Off, Guy knew he would have to be fast, and in his true style managed to retain almost a 1.5second lead over the rest of the field, including France’s Romain Duget with Otello du Soleil whom were relegated to second place.
It was France again who picked up third place with Eugenie Angot and Old Chap Tame infront of Robert Bevis and the grey Courtney 6 who is owned by Kate Mustill taking fourth place. With only four of the field producing a double clear it was a solid performance for Great Britain to have the Union Flag across two of them.
Other GBR wins were plentiful with Mark Armstrong, Laura Renwick, Will Funnell and Robert Whitaker also taking titles in other class over the weekend. Other riders high in the placings were Sam Hutton, Jemma Kirk, Peter Murphy, Jo Pay, Henry Turrell, Daniel Mosely, Louise Whitaker, Tim Davies and Simon Crippen.
