Four riders selected to contest the team competition at the FEI Showjumping European Championships 2011

Team manager Rob Hoekstra today announced the British quartet to contest the team competition at the FEI European Showjumping Championships 2011, 13-18 September, Madrid.

They are: Ben Maher (Tripple X III), Nick Skelton (Carlo), John Whitaker (Peppermill) and Guy Williams (Titus II). Scott Brash (Intertoy Z) will ride as an individual. All horses passed the vet’s inspection and Rob Hoekstra commented:

“We are in scorching heat here of 35 degrees which will be testing for both horse and rider. The team are in great spirits and good health though; all are hoping to secure a win for Great Britain and looking forward to the challenge ahead”.

The competition schedule for the week is as follows:

Wednesday, September 14th
FEI European Jumping Championships 2011 1st Team & 1st Individual Competition
Scale C, Speed and handiness

Thursday, September 15th
FEI European Jumping Championships 2011 Final Team (1st Round) & 2nd Individual Qualifier (2nd Round).
Scale: Two rounds (First round).

Friday, September 16th
FEI European Jumping Championships 2011 Final Team (2nd Round) & 2nd Individual Qualifier (2nd Round).
Scale: Two rounds (Second round).

Sunday, September 18th
FEI European Jumping Championships 2011 Final Individual (Top-25).
Scale: Two rounds

The selected riders are supported by the World Class Programme, which is generously supported by Lottery and Exchequer funding via UK Sport. The Programme incorporates both the Development and Performance Programmes and the Equine Pathway, and works closely with the three BEF Olympic Member Bodies, British Dressage, British Eventing and British Showjumping.
