William Fletcher crowned National under 21 Champion

Arena 2 played host to the National under 21 Championship Final today at the British Showjumping National Championships, held at the NAEC Stoneleigh in Warwickshire. It was William Fletcher who clinched that all important victory riding Graham Fletcher’s Everytime Anywhere B. The pair produced an excellent and faultless jump off round which took them straight into the lead.

Course builder Jason Abbs built a tough course which proved challenging for many, only William and Harry Wainwright went clear in the first round. In the jump off it was all to play for with Harry and Michael Whitaker’s Pinheiro Beach going first. Sadly the pair dropped a pole and picked up four faults. William’s round wasn’t faultless though; despite jumping clear he picked up three time penalties with a final time of 49 seconds.

William commented on his round: “I felt it was a very difficult course and the competition was hard today. The first fence wasn’t very inviting and there were a couple which posed serious questions so I was absolutely chuffed with how well he jumped. He’s such a special horse and I am so lucky that I get to ride him. He’s taken his time, and we’ve really started to produce him over the last year. My dad first saw him as a six year old and he’s now eight and he’s really progressing.”
