Monday 14 January 2019
Laura Mantel from Reading, Berkshire continued her flying form as she headed up another Winter Grand Prix, this time at Crofton Manor Equestrian Centre in Fareham, Hampshire.
Laura landed the top spot with Elizabeth Howes’ Glory B V and this was the second Winter Grand Prix win for the pair after they took the title at Hartpury University in December. They also finished third in the Winter Grand Prix at Onley Grounds Equestrian Centre at the beginning of the month.
One-third of the initial starters gained first round clears but only three could go on to jump clear in the jump-off. It was Laura and the 11 year-old Glory B V who posted the fastest round, leaving all the jumps up to finish in 40.86 seconds.
Mark Armstrong from Bordon, Hampshire rode Prince Sultan Saud’s 9 year-old grey mare Fabienne II into second place after producing the second fastest clear in 44.84 seconds.
Kimberley White from Chilworth, Southampton took third place with Heathrow, a 12 year-old bay gelding owned by Paula White. They crossed the finish line with a double clear in 47.57 seconds.
