BEF announces next stage in process to decide the future of its Equine Development programmes

Monday 13 November 2017

The British Equestrian Federation (BEF) has completed a period of review of the initial expressions of interest in running its Equine Development programmes - Futurity, Equine Bridge, Stallion Event and British Breeder magazine.

It is now inviting those organisations, along with others who are now welcome to come forward, to attend a presentation on 22 November.

Says Nicki Kavanagh, Interim CEO of the BEF: “During the presentation, the BEF will give an overview of the programmes, with an opportunity for open questions, followed by individual appointments for further discussion. The session also represents an opportunity for all those expressing an interest to meet each other. The initial responses we received showed that there may well be organisations that could join together to best deliver the programmes.”

Following this presentation, in December, the BEF will invite organisations or partnerships to pitch, for the programmes they would wish to take over, on a self-funded basis. The BEF is not seeking a partner to run the programmes on its behalf. In future, it will not remain involved in delivery and there will be no transfer of the brand names relating to the programmes, nor participant data.

On choosing the most suitable provider to which it will transfer delivery, the BEF will require an official agreement to act according to a set of operational principles. These will form a commitment to maintain the integrity of the programmes. The process of handover to the chosen provider is expected to be complete by 31 January 2018.

Expressions of interest in BEF’s equine development programmes should be received in writing by Friday 17 November 2017. Enquiries should be directed to Jan Rogers on jan.rogers@bef.co.uk
