Holly Smith & Hearts Destiny win Large Tour Grand Prix in Spain

Monday 18 March 2019

It was a fantastic win for Holly Smith with the consistent 10 year-old Hearts Destiny, which she and husband Graham co-own with TJ Hall Ltd, in the CSI4* Suzuki Large Tour Grand Prix at the Sunshine Tour in Spain yesterday afternoon.

From a huge field of over forty starters, it was only eight that managed to post a clear over the 1.55m course designed by Santiago Varela.  The eight that went through alongside Holly were Penelope Leprevost (FRA), Cian O’Connor (IRL), Hen van de POL (NED), Pedro Junqueira BRA), Laura Kraut (USA), Marcel MArschall (GBR) and Anthony Condon (IRL).

With Holly entering the arena as the last to go and all to play for it was Penelope Leprevost that held the lead with her clear in a time of 40.08 seconds. Holly, known as being a fast rider, meant business when she entered the arena and her opening up to gallop to an enormous vertical before turning back incredibly tightly afterwards is what won her the class when she broke the finish line in an incredible 39.07 seconds with no penalties to add.

Penelope had to satisfy herself with second place  whilst Henk van de Pol, Marcel Marschall and Anthony Condon took the following respective places be delivering the only other double clears of the competition.
