Para Equestrian Riders out in Vimory CSI 2*
Tuesday 24 May 2011

Twenty five Para riders took part in the inaugural European Para showjumping championships held at Montargis-Vimory CSI 2* France last weekend. Ten British Para riders made the journey, Emily Lawes, Karen Bostock, Karen Law, Deena Webster, Toby Bevins, Ruth Slater, Susi Rogers-Hartley and Wolfe Walker-Altas jumped in the para classes, Heather Bennett competed in the International able bodied classes and was in the money with both of her rides. Unfortunately Louise Hacker didn’t get to start as her horse was lame.
The Para jumping started with a warm up competition on the Friday, which allowed the riders the opportunity to ride a course in the arena and gave our three riders who hired horses, Emily Lawes, Ruth Slater and Wolfe Walker-Altas a chance to get to know them.
Saturday’s classes saw Deena Webster come third in the 1.10 class, we managed a clean sweep in the 80cm, Ruth Slater finishing first with Karen Bostock second, Wolfe third and Karen Law rounded off a successful day by winning the class for the visually impaired, ably guided by Deena.
Sunday saw a win for Karen Bostock this time with Wolfe second and Susi Rogers-Hartley third and Karen Law again guided by Deena finished second.
This has been a fabulous week for British Para Showjumping our riders have gained a huge amount of experience and enjoyed a lot of success. The next Para jumping competition will be at the RDA championships at Hartpury on July 8th 2011.
