GBR International Results Round Up

This weekend saw Great Britain well represented all over Europe with riders competing in Spain, France and Italy all gaining top results.

The Spanish Sunshine Tour is in its fifth week and Great Britain are still dominating the results with wins in twelve of the fifteen top classes, and a further seventeen results in the top three placings. The Grand Prix saw three of our riders in the top four on the leader board which included a win for twenty two year old Daniel Moseley riding Billy Stud’s nine year gelding Billy Grand who jumped a double clear with a jump off time 44.57 seconds. Third place went to Tim Page riding Trevor Sturman’s Quentin Tarantino also double clear, with a jump off time of 48.89 seconds. Smashing the winning time but with an unfortunate fence down was fourth placed Nicky Boulter and Old Lodge’s Super Trooper de Ness, who came home with four faults in a time of 39.52 seconds.

The small tour has also seen great success with sixteen year old Chloe Aston from Tring in Hertfordshire picking up numerous top results across the five weeks of competition, topping the show off with two brilliant wins. Firstly in the Ladies Grand Prix aboard the seven year old chestnut mare Zafira, owned by her mother (Jo) Chloe was over two seconds faster than second place. The following day Chloe once again topped the leader board this time riding her mothers nine year gelding Kolibri Classic in the Invitational Grand Prix Small Tour. Winning this class by jumping clear in the jump off in a time of 45 seconds, just over five seconds faster than the only double other clear, Chloe also managed to win a Motorbike which I’m sure we’ll see her nipping around on when she’s back in the UK!

In Vidauban, France Great Britain saw another handful of top placings across the show from Gemma Kirk on her fathers (Robert) Tosca and Wexford, Joe Clee riding his own Diablesse de Muze and Graham Lovegrove on Pandur 292 and Tin Tin both owned by Sarah Hancock. The Grand Prix saw Graham pick up second place riding the nine year old grey gelding Tin Tin, jumping a double clear in a jump off time of 45.50 seconds.

The Gold Tour in Arezzo Italy has seen four of our riders making it in to the top two places over the weekend. With twenty one year old Matthew Sampson picking up two wins on Sophie Ryan’s thirteen year old Stallion Rush On M, and a second place on Winston P owned by Mrs Dionne Crossfield. Geoff Luckett picked up a second place on Mrs Patricia Squibb’s eight year old Quilano Z and Michael Whitaker also picked up a second place on Deborah Cox’s eleven year old Fairview’s Mirabelle d’or. However it was twenty one year William Whitaker who flew the British flag in the Gold Tour Grand Prix, coming second on his father’s (Ian) twelve year old gelding Sarlino.
