EquestrianClearance.com Senior Newcomers Second Round at the British Showjumping North Yorkshire Show

The British Showjumping North Yorkshire Show held at Allerton Park took place last weekend and a key class of the show was the EquestrianClearance.com Senior Newcomers Second Round held on Sunday 1st June 2014. As ever with popular series, the second round attracted a total of sixty-four eligible starters.

Up for grabs at this second round were two direct qualifying tickets for the EquestrianClearance.com Senior Newcomers Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show and all of the competitors were hoping to take one of these tickets as their own.

Of the sixty-four starters, just five combinations went on to produce two clear rounds to make it through into the final jump off.

The eventual winner was Anne-Marie Clarke from Chorley, Lancashire and she won on board Cartier De Musk, a 7 year-old bay stallion owned by Warren Clarke and Christian Clarke-Tomlinson. The combination secured their victory in style, jumping the only treble clear of the class in a time of 50.86 seconds.

Commenting on her win Anne said ”I thought it was a great show and the going held up really well. I also felt that the course was not only well built, but it was technical, which is perfect for Cartier.”

Second place was taken by 24 year-old Daniel Moseley from South Hykeham, Lincoln and he was on board Simon Roe’s 6 year-old grey gelding Dexter X. The combination unfortunately picked up 4 faults after rolling a pole at the last fence, but they did secure a good time of 51.13 seconds.

The first two horse and rider combinations, disregarding those already qualified, will qualify for the Horse of the Year Show. The first five, disregarding those already qualified, will qualify for the Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival. Horses and riders that jump a treble clear also qualify for the Alexanders Horseboxes British Showjumping Scope Festival.
