Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Round at Kingsbarn Equestrian Centre

The 1.00m Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Round at Kingsbarn Equestrian Centre in Falkirk attracted 14 starting combinations for the competition held on Saturday 20th October 2012. Following months of competition in the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur First Rounds, riders were competing in order to qualify for the Championship Final.
All of the combinations starting in the Dodson & Horrell 1.00m National Amateur Second Round were all hoping to secure one of the twelve direct qualifying tickets on offer for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree International Equestrian Centre in November 2012.
This Second Round saw six combinations make it through to the jump off. In the jump off, three combinations achieved their desired double clear and the times decided the places.
The top spot was filled by 17-year-old Hayley Stevenson from East Lothian and she rode Wednesday II, a nine-year-grey mare owned by Louise Stevenson. This combination rode a superb double clear to fly over all eight fences in the jump off in a time of 29.07 seconds to seal the win and a place in the Championship Final.
In second place was 14-year-old Rachael Clark from Ayrshire and she achieved her place in the Championship Final on board Tiffany III, a ten-year-old bay mare owned by Fiona Clark. A faultless round in the jump off in a time of 33.31 seconds was enough to ensure a top two finish.
In third place was 16-year-old Shauni Dunlop from Ayrshire she rode Rozel Charisma, a nine-year-old gelding owned by Laura Dunlop. This combination posted their clear in the jump off in a time of 34.39 seconds.
A further three riders also achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.00m Championship Final.

The Dodson & Horrell National Amateur & Veteran Championships 2012 take place from the 15th November – 18th November 2012 at Aintree International Equestrian Centre.
