Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Second Round at Forest Edge Arena

The venue of Forest Edge Arena played host to the second of the Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Rounds on Saturday 22nd September 2012. Following a competitive season of initial first round qualifying competitions, competitors rode for the chance to qualify for the Dodson & Horrell National Amateur Championships, which take place at Aintree International Equestrian Centre in November 2012.
All of the combinations starting in the Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Second Round were all hoping to secure one of the twelve direct qualifying tickets on offer for the Championships.
This 1.10m National Amateur Second Round attracted 14 starters and from these combinations, 10 made it through in to the jump off. In the jump off, 5 riders posted an immaculate double clear, which meant that the times were to decide the places.
Taking the winner’s spot in this Second Round was 23-year-old Melissa Eagles from Clacton-On-Sea, Essex on board her own Locomotion II, a 10-year-old bay gelding owned by. The combination cleared all of the fences in the jump off in a time of 32.78 seconds to seal the win and secure their Championship Final place.
In second place was 27-year-old Michaela Huntingdon from Braintree, Essex and she secured her Championship Final place on board Zula Maeva, her own eight-year-old grey mare. Michaela achieved her second clear in a time of 32.93 seconds.
In third was 16-year-old Lorraine Lock from Essex and she rode Uvistar, an 11-year-old bay gelding owned by Joanne Lock. The combination posted an immaculate double clear in a time of 35.02 seconds to ensure a top three finish.
A further seven riders also achieved their qualification for the Dodson & Horrell 1.10m National Amateur Championship Final, two of whom achieved a fantastic double clear.

The Dodson & Horrell National Amateur & Veteran Championships 2012 take place from the 15th November – 18th November 2012 at Aintree International Equestrian Centre.
