Jessica Mendoza riding Saorsie, claims the crown in the AJ Walter Aviation Pony Adventurer Championship. From 32 riders 10 combinations went through to the jump off, Alfie Bradstock and Dirty Gerty were first to go and possibly thought they had done enough, there were no further clears until Jessica’s round, and she shaved a fraction of a second off the time finishing in 26.92 seconds
It’s been a tremendous week for Emma Slater, taking her third Championship of the week on Thursday morning when she won the Smarter Training Group National 1.15m Championship riding Simply Billie Bunter. Third to go in a twelve horse jump off the combination flew round in a cracking time of 28.46 seconds, which no other pair could come close to.
Student Olivia Gent won the TAGG66 National 4 Year Old Championship on Thursday afternoon, producing two outstanding clears with her four year old chestnut mare Beau Verina. The Dutch bred mare had only been bought four months ago, and Olivia was delighted with her performance.
Local rider Simon Crippen from Berkhamsted, won the Equiport National 5 Year Old Championship. Ten combinations went through to the jump off, Simon riding Acco was sixth go completing his round in 41.84 seconds, with only four clear rounds Simon was two seconds clear of his closest rival.
The Halsall Electrical National Grade C Championship was claimed by Andrew Davies and Vijlada MW, early to go in the jump off Andrew set the pace with the first clear round in 37.90 seconds, with only three further clears no other combination came near his time.
No hanging about for Laura Renwick in Springs Equestrian Partnership National 7 & 8 Year Old Championship, she was first to go in the jump off and had to get on with the job at hand. Riding the 7 year old Parvati De Breve, Laura set an unbeatable time of 36.72 seconds, there were plenty of clears to follow but nobody could better her time. Laura has had the mare since she was a three year old and has been competing her abroad to gain some experience.
Having had a successful season in amateur championships Michael Wynnes prize winning streak followed him to Scope taking the Whittaker Coachbuilders National Senior Riders Championship riding Don Douglas, shaving almost a second clear of his closest rival.
Nineteen year old Abbey Squires was over the moon when she won the Hopkinson National Under 21 Championship in dramatic style riding the 13 year old Irish bred gelding Enrique. Last to go in the jump off Abbey gave it everything she had to finish a fraction up on the time to take the glory, ‘I’ve been placed at the show in previous years, but this is the biggest class I’ve ever won,’ commented an elated Abbey
