CHARLES STANLEY BRITISH MASTERS REMAINS AT SOUTHVIEW FOR 2012

After an incredibly successful international show in 2011, British Showjumping is delighted to announce that the British Masters will again be held at Cheshire’s SouthView Equestrian Centre in 2012.

Charles Stanley have confirmed their support as title sponsors for the third year running and the event will take place in late June/early July.  Riders will be invited from across the globe to contest the prize money on offer which currently stands in excess of £100,000. The exact dates of next year’s event and further details will be announced shortly.

The Charles Stanley British Masters will be one of the last opportunities to see some of Great Britain’s leading riders in action prior to the Olympic Games. For those interested in equestrian sport it is a show that shouldn’t be missed.   The show offers not only top class competition but also an informal environment where supporters can get up close to the action, have access to many of the riders competing and really get behind Great Britain’s Olympic bid.

There will also be two major pony classes at the event where team hopefuls will be under the scrutiny of selectors prior to the Pony European Championships which take place in Fontainbleau later that month.

Sir David Howard, Chairman of Charles Stanley Group PLC commented; “This is our third year as headline sponsors of the British Masters Showjumping event, and it promises to be the most exciting. For many of the horses and riders this will be the last challenge before the London 2012 Olympic Games. We are delighted with our association with the British Masters and with the North-West Development Agency, and this has generated some remarkable client and employee engagement. The event is a real showpiece in the international showjumping calendar, and at Charles Stanley we are proud to continue our sponsorship of such an exacting sport that truly transcends all ages and genders. The Charles Stanley British Masters Showjumping event is supported principally by our offices in Manchester and Liverpool, but our investment managers from all around Britain are keen to invite clients to the North-West for this outstanding three-day spectacle. I wish the organisers , at SouthView and British Showjumping,  all the very best for another really memorable festival of showjumping.”

Sheldon Phillips, Head of Major Events at the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) said:”The NWDA and its regional partners have been determined to support Team GB in its preparations for the Olympic Games and to ensure the maximum legacy for the region. We are delighted that Cheshire, with its strong equestrian links, has been able to help prepare GB’s top riders and horses for the Games and provide local people and visitors the opportunity to see some top class showjumping.”

Charles Britton expressed delight that the NWDA and Charles Stanley have again pledged their support for the British Masters at SouthView commenting “for SouthView this is all about demonstrating the capabilities of our permanent British venues and expanding opportunities for our riders and we could not achieve this without such support.   We have some top talent here and the British Masters allows our riders a world ranking opportunity on home soil – something that their foreign counterparts enjoy week in week out.’

Added Linda: “Our aim long term is to encourage other venues to follow our lead and ultimately join us in our endeavour of increasing the number of top quality international shows here at home. In doing so, we can then be sure that we have done the best we can to assist more of our riders to compete at world level without having the leave the country for extended periods of time. This has to be good for the sport as a whole, the British horse and the wider economy”.

Maria Clayton for British Showjumping commented “The British Masters, now in its fourth year, has gone from strength to strength to where it is now a pivotal date in our competition calendar.   The input, enthusiasm and passion for delivery from Charles and Linda Britton at SouthView, the team at Charles Stanley and the Northwest Regional Development Agency plus the backing of the riders, owners and supporters has been phenomenal. 2012 looks set to be an even greater success and we are delighted to have such a strong team helping to put our performance delivery plans into action”.
