TIM STOCKDALE UPDATE - ON HIS WAY HOME

Thursday 24 November 2011

British Showjumping are thrilled to be announcing that Tim Stockdale is currently on his way home , with wife Laura, where he will be continuing his recovery following a fall six weeks ago which resulted in multiple fractures to his neck.

Until yesterday when he was finally allowed to sit up and take tentative steps, Tim had been immobilised at the RJAH Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Oswestry in their specialist spinal unit.  Talking to Tim moments ago he said "It's just great to not only be outside but also upright having spent six weeks staring at a hospital ceiling.  I remain fully supported by a collar as the fractures are still clearly visible on xrays taken yesterday but I'm over the moon that I've been allowed to continue my convalescence at home.

"I'm looking forward to seeing my sons once we get back and then taking a gentle walk around the yard to look at the horses.  I can't tell you how welcome a stroll that will be!".

Tim has also asked that his thanks and admiration be acknowledged in respect of the care and attention he received at Oswestry.   In addition he  has asked us to convey how overwhelmed he has been with the messages of support from those that follow the sport.
