Jessica Mendoza victorious in Italy

Easter Sunday saw 18 year-old Jessica Mendoza from Chippenham, Wiltshire partnering her mother Sarah’s 9 year-old bay gelding Sam de Bacon to take the top spot in the CSI 3* 1.45m Silver Tour Arezzo Grand Prix.

A huge field of eighty combinations came forward to contest the €25,000 class and nineteen put in a first round clear to progress through to the jump off. With eight then putting in another foot perfect round it all came down to the clock to decide the final line-up.

Jessica and Sam de Bacon produced their double clear and crossed the finish line in 40.04 seconds the only sub 41 seconds round of the competition to ensure the victory was theirs. Ukraine’s  Ferenc Szentirmai  with Chacanno took second after gaining their double clear in 41.31 seconds. Italy’s Matteo Leonardi with Lasciva del Terriccio finished in third place after this combination produced their double clear in 41.66 seconds.
