British Showjumping Member Update – Winter Qualifiers & Finals 2021

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       

Following the recent lockdowns that have been imposed throughout the UK, British Showjumping have been working closely with Show Organisers to develop a plan to provide qualification opportunities and finals for the Winter classes should we be able to run competitions in March. Further information will be shared when it becomes available and once the qualification process is able to be confirmed and implemented. 

PONIES
These are planned to take place at the following venues:

128/138 Winter Pony Premiers

  • South View Equestrian Centre 13 - 14 March 
  • Morris Equestrian Centre 20 - 21 March
  • Onley Grounds Equestrian Complex 27 - 28 March

148cm Winter Pony Premiers

  • Keysoe International 13 - 14 March
  • Arena UK 20 - 21 March
  • South View Equestrian Centre 27 - 28 March

Qualifying Numbers:
The numbers that qualify per class will be increased for 2021 as follows:

128/138 Winter Pony Premiers:
11 years & Under Qualifier – 2 double clears to qualify
10 years and Under - all double clears qualify
Winter 128cm Second Round - 3 to qualify
Winter 138cm Second Round - 3 to Qualify
128cm/138cm Handicap Special - 3 to qualify

148 Winter Pony Premiers:
Winter 1.00m (inc. in Blue Chip Junior Newcomers 1st Round) – 12 to qualify, 6 per section
Winter 1.10m Qualifier (inc. in Foxhunter/Open classes)- 12 to qualify, 6 per section
Charles Britton Construction Winter JA Qualifier (both days) – 4 to qualify
Winter JC Qualifier (both days) – 3 to qualify

Additional qualifiers taking place at POYS between 1st - 5th April at Arena UK are:
11 years & Under Qualifier (incorporating 10yrs & Under)
Winter 128cm Second Round
Winter 138cm Second Round
Charles Britton Construction Winter JA Qualifier
Winter JC Qualifier

The qualification period for Springboard 128cm and 138cm and Winter 128cm and 138cm first rounds have been extended until end of March. In addition, the JMB height certificate deadline has been extended until the end of April.

HORSES
Winter Classic Shows planned to take place during March are as follows:

  • Bury Farm Equestrian Club 5 – 7 March
  • Morris Equestrian Centre 12 – 14 March
  • South View Equestrian Centre 18 – 21 March
  • Onley Grounds Equestrian Complex 18 – 21 March
  • Arena UK 26 – 28 March

The following Finals are planned to take place in April and discussions are underway with potential venues/organisers and will be announced as soon as we can:

  • Winter Grade C Final
  • Winter 1.35m Final
  • NAF Five Star Winter Bronze Final  (Qualification period extended to end March)
  • NAF Five Star Winter Silver Final (Qualification period extended to end March)
  • Winter 6yr Final
  • Winter 7yr Final
     
  • Children on Horses Final to be held at Pony of the Year Show, Arena UK

We will continue to monitor the restrictions across the Devolved Administrations with a focus on the earliest resumption of activity and competition possible whilst observing Government guidance.

As in the previous lockdowns plans may have to evolve or be changed at short notice however we hope that by sharing this proposed rescheduling it will assist members in amending their plans for the remainder of the Winter season.
