Hannah Barker wins the Charles Britton Equestrian Construction Winter JA Classic Championship

Fifteen year-old Hannah Barker from Northallerton in North Yorkshire claimed the Charles Britton Equestrian Construction Winter JA Classic Championship title during this year’s Scope Festival held at SouthView Equestrian Centre, Cheshire.

Hannah piloted Ammanvalley Santino, a 16 year-old British bred gelding owned by Lynn Barker, whom Hannah has built a solid partnership with over the last 4 years, to victory with the only double clear around course-designer Gillian Milner’s track.

Only four of the initial starters jumped clear round the 1.30m first round track to make it through to the second round but no one could match Hannah’s time of 32.61 seconds. The closest combination to the winning round came from Wrexham based 15 year-old Jennifer Billington and Faith X, a 10 year-old Dutch bred mare owned by Linda Billington. They produced an efficient round in 34.85 seconds but an early rail left them in the runners up position.

Thirteen year-old Henry Squibb made the journey from Brentwood in Essex to compete in the Championship with Emily Fenn’s Kilcurry Dawn, a 12 year-old German bred stallion. They came home with four faults in 35.24 seconds which was enough to see them land 3rd place.
