Chantelle Duggan and Linton de la Chapelle win the National Winter Grade C Final

It couldn’t have played out any better than it did for Chantelle Duggan from Knottingley, North Yorkshire this evening when she claimed the Winter Grade C title, sponsored by Higher Silcock Stables, at the NAF Five Star British Showjumping Championships.

Ten first round clears from the twenty-one strong field brought with it a very competitive jump-off from a group of novice horses, that had qualified for the Final through the winter season, with many taking the pressure of a jump-off in their stride and producing another penalty free round.

It was Chantelle with the 7 year-old gelding Linton de la Chapelle (L’arc de Triomphe x Clinton), bred by Scott Smith and owned by Margaret Duggan, that shone when they hot-footed their way round the jump-off course. Taking a particularly tight turn back to the penultimate fence before galloping to the last they broke the finish line in 36.13 seconds putting them more than a second faster than the current leader at the time.  With only two more to go after her, and neither able to catch her time it was a delighted Chantelle that claimed the title and was presented accordingly in the arena.

Cheshire based James Shore who had held the earlier lead with the 8 year-old Manzana de Rigo, an 8 year-old gelding owned by father Keith, also looked impressive with a clear in 37.70 seconds to finish 2nd place whilst Benjamin Bick with Carron Nicol’s 8 year-old mare Marieke took 3rd.

The NAF Five Star British Showjumping Championships take place between the 3 – 11 August 2020 and further information on the show can be found here  https://bit.ly/3a4cy2Q  and results from all classes here https://bit.ly/2Xzma0M.
