Tatiane Mauree wins Pony Grand Prix in Wierden

The Brits showed their strength in the Pony Grand Prix at the Dutch Youngster Festival in Wierden, The Netherlands, earlier today.

Riding under the sponsor banner of Team NAF, the riders aged 16 years and under, made up part of the just almost thirty strong field that were representing the six European nations taking part.  It was the Brits though that showed their strength and depth of field when four of the five finished on a double clear with only three other combinations managing to achieve the same.

It was Tatiane Mauree, aged 15 from Newbury in Berkshire, that claimed the win with her mother Arlina’s 10 year-old bay mare Horseabout Zibu.  With less than a second separating the top three places, it was Tatiane’s fast paced round that saw her claim pole position in the line up when she stopped the clock in 33.19 seconds.  This saw Joyce Wolters (NED) with Karl van Orchid’s take 2nd place with her time of 33.50 seconds with GB’s Hannah Barker hot on her heels with a time of 34.17 seconds.  15 year-old Hannah from Northallerton, North Yorkshire was riding her mother Lynn’s 16 year-old British bred dark bay gelding Ammanvalley Santino.

In 5th place, also with a double clear was 15 year-old Claudia Moore from Brentwood, Essex with her mother Katrina’s 16 year-old gelding Elando van de Roshoeve.  Their foot-perfect clear in 35.34 seconds was enouh to see them slot in behind Magnus Schmidt (GER) and An Angel who took 4th.  The fourth double clear for the Brits came from Elissa Herman.  Making her debut on her ride Lapislazuli, owned by her mother Edwina, she put in a stylish clear albeit in a slower time of 38.85 seconds to finish in 7th.
