Longines FEI Jumping European Championship Riesenbeck 2021

The Horse Inspection and first training session were staged today ahead of tomorrow’s opening competition of the Longines FEI Jumping European Championship 2021 at Riesenbeck International in Germany. The exciting new equestrian centre created by international showjumping star Ludger Beerbaum in conjunction with Baron Constantin Heereman will be home to athletes and horses from 22 nations over the next five days as the medal race is played out.
A total of 15 countries are fielding teams, with Austria, Czech Republic and Turkey sending just three horse/athlete combinations while Belgium, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Switzerland and Sweden have full teams of four. Greece, Hungary, Israel, Poland, Portugal, Russia and Slovenia will be represented by individuals.
Great Britain is being represented by the following quartet of horse/rider combinations who are all making their senior championship team debut:
Emily Moffitt (23), based in Evesham, Worcestershire, with Poden Farms and Neil and Heidi Moffitt’s Winning Good (bay, gelding., 16.3hh, 12yrs, Winningmood x Sir Corland, Breeder: WFM van Gestel NED, Groom: Fiona Collino)
Joseph Stockdale (21), based in Roade, Northamptonshire, with Joy Cocklin’s Equine America Cacharel (bay, mare, 10yrs, 17hh, Cachas x Quinar, Breeder: Bohm Helmut GER, Groom: Charlotte Attwell)
Georgia Tame (23), based in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, with Breen Equestrian Ltd, Shane Breen and Team Z7’s Z7 Ascot (bay, stallion, 10yrs, 16.3hh, Non Stop x Voltaire, Breeder: Marion Hughes IRL, Groom: Cillian Borrmann)
William Whitaker (32) based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire with Philip Tuckwell’s Galtur (grey, gelding, 16.2hh, 11yrs, Cornet’s Stern x Balou du Rouet, Breeder: Philip Tuckwell GBR, Groom: Lewis Robershaw-Smith)
Performance Manager Di Lampard commented; “Having the additional bonus of the European Championships this year after the Olympics has given us the welcome opportunity to field an exciting young team with Emily, Joseph and Georgia and all four horses making their senior team debut.
“Championship experience is vital for any rider in their career and Emily, Joseph, Georgia and William certainly have the potential become mainstays of the British team for years to come. I’m really looking forward to leading them in Germany and beyond.”
The British senior teams are supported by British Equestrian’s UK Sport National Lottery funded World Class Programme. They are further supported by team partners Dodson & Horrell, NAF, Toggi, Horseware, Equi-Trek, Point Two, HorseHage and Flying Change
The draw took place this afternoon and the team order of go is Great Britain, Spain, Turkey, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, France, Czech Republic, Belgium, Ireland, Germany and Austria.
The action kicks off at 11.00 tomorrow (Wednesday 1 September) when Great Britain’s Georgia Tame will be first into the arena with Z7 Ascot.
