French Equitation Federation – EHV1 Update

British Showjumping have received the following update from the French Equitation Federation (FFE) with regards to competition within France.

As follows:

“In order to master the development of an epidemic of Myeloencephalitis  - EHV1 (rhinopneumonia) after the finding of  many cases at competitions in Europe, the FFE and the French Hippic Society have jointly decided to suspend from today and until Sunday March 28th 2021 all national and international competitions, equine gatherings and workshops that are organized under their auspices.

We will regularly inform everyone of the evolution of the epidemiological situation. We renew our call for vigilance and respect for good practice in order to resume all activities as soon as possible in an already heavily disturbed context.”

British Showjumping, having taken veterinary advice and being aware of outbreaks now occurring in additional countries to Spain, recommend their members do not travel across Europe at this point in time.
