Two British Female Riders Complete Line Up in Spain on International Women’s Day
Monday 09 March 2015
British riders Yazmin Pinchen and Holly Gillott celebrated International Women’s Day yesterday by taking second and third place respectively in the €61500 FEI CSI3* 1.55m Grand Prix at Vejer de la Frontera in Spain. The two Brits completed the final podium line up behind Swiss rider Janika Sprunger.
Fifty-four combinations came forward to contest this Grand Prix and just five produced a first round clear. With spectators knowing they were to be treated to a closely fought jump off, it was Janika who delivered the only double clear inside the time on board Aris CMS, finishing on a score of zero faults in 56.14 seconds.
Yazmin Pinchen from Ifield, West Sussex partnered her mother Nancy’s 12 year-old liver chestnut stallion Van de Vivaldi and they finished in second place with just 2 time faults on the board after leaving all of the fences up in a time of 60.50 seconds.
Holly Gillott from Loughborough, Leicestershire delivered a fast jump off round with her own 10 year-old liver chestnut gelding Dougie Douglas and the combination were unfortunate to pick up 4 faults. However, their quick time of 50.37 seconds saw them secure a third place finish.
