STRANGLES OUTBREAKS WITHIN THE UK AND GUIDANCE FOR PREVENTION

British Showjumping would like to notify their members that a number of Strangles outbreaks have been reported during recent weeks across the UK.
To assist identify the first signs of Strangles as early as possible please do visit the specific pages on the Animal Health Trust website which can be found on the following link. In addition to giving detailed information in respect of this disease, the link will also give guidance on the ongoing management and prevention of Strangles.

Strict biosecurity policies are recommended to reduce the risk of outbreaks and the spread of the disease, including quarantine, routine screening blood tests and implementing outbreak procedures following a confirmed or strongly suspected outbreak.
We would like to ask all members to visit the site and to read the information available. It is only by taking responsible measures that the disease can be contained and the horses affected by this highly contagious disease kept to a minimum.
